A book · an audiobook · an open project

A proposal for a dollar that holds its purchasing power.

Money is a choice. The People's Money explains how America's money is created today, sets out a design aimed at keeping a dollar's value steady across generations, and invites you to test whether it can. That is a goal to test, not a result anyone has established.

Where things stand

Four things kept apart, updated when the evidence changes, including when it goes against us.

What the record shows Most money is bank deposits, created when banks lend. Net interest took about 19.5¢ of every federal revenue dollar in fiscal 2026.
What history suggests Americans have changed their money system before. Public money's record is mixed; limits on quantity were part of the difference.
What the accounting shows An early accounting model passed specified checks and exposed gaps. Rules for those gaps are adopted on paper and being built; they are not yet fully tested.
Not yet shown Whether the design keeps prices stable, keeps credit available at a fair cost, and survives the transition. That testing comes next.

America has changed its money before

From colonial paper money to the Federal Reserve Act, every system we've had was a choice someone made. Chapter 5 tells the whole record, failures included.

1729A 23-year-old printer argues for paper money in Pennsylvania.
1862Congress issues greenbacks to pay for the Civil War.
1913The Federal Reserve Act becomes law two days before Christmas.

Change starts in the states

The first ask isn't an amendment. It's a public study: a state hearing where the design is examined, critics testify and the findings are published. Find your state and take one step this month.
